Through its strategic partnership with Lake County Workforce Development, BCU has been a model employer in fostering pathways to sustainable employment and financial literacy.
As a key partner in the Work, Earn, and Learn (WEL) Program, BCU has provided paid internships for unemployed job seekers (specifically youth), offering skill development in the banking industry while simultaneously addressing its own workforce needs. This innovative pre-apprenticeship model equips participants with essential training in customer service, transaction management, time management, and community engagement—laying the foundation for long-term careers in financial services.
Importantly, BCU has hired three Workforce Development interns, a testament to their belief in training and investing in the future workforce. By providing work-based learning opportunities and meaningful career pathways, BCU is actively addressing talent shortages while empowering both young adults and adult learners to thrive.
