Carmel Catholic High School, located in the heart of Lake County, IL, is a college preparatory school founded in 1962 by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Order of the Carmelites. Carmel provides a quality Catholic education and the school is committed to meeting the academic, social, and spiritual needs of each student. The school strives to instill in its students a lifelong commitment to learning, Gospel values, and community service. Each year, 100% of Carmel's graduates are accepted into college. The US Department of Education has awarded Carmel Catholic 4 Blue Ribbon awards for excellence in curriculum, student programs and student life. In 2010, Carmel's students achieved an average 25.5 score on the ACT exam, surpassing the State ACT composite score of 20.7 and the National composite score of 21.0. Unlike other high schools, 100% of all Carmel students take the ACT exam.
