Cook Park Library: Located one block west of Milwaukee Avenue; take Church Street west to Brainerd Avenue north. Aspen Drive Library: Located just south of Townline Rd., east of Butterfield Rd.
Founded in 1921 and originally housed in the historic Ansel B. Cook House, today Cook Memorial Public Library District serves nearly 60,000 residents in northern Illinois through two modern, full-service locations: Cook Park Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Avenue in downtown Libertyville, and Aspen Drive Library, 701 Aspen Drive, south of Townline Road east of Butterfield Rd., in Vernon Hills.
The library also operates a Bookmobile that visits local day care centers and makes weekly visits to in-district neighborhoods. An active Outreach Department takes library services to area senior centers and homebound patrons.
The library offers cardholders and reciprocal borrowers:
-a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction for all ages
-a DVD/Blu-rays collection including popular movies, family films, TV shows, and foreign films
-a broad selection of music on CD
-videogames for children, teens, and adults
-magazines
-access to 80+ databases
-reference materials
Cook Memorial Public Library District hosts more than 1,000 programs and classes every year including musical performances, leading speakers, and instructional workshops.
Both Cook Park Library and Aspen Drive Library offer visitors:
