About Us

Our Sparrow's Nest Thrift Store and Donation Center - Mundelein is part of Home of the Sparrow, Inc, a 501(c)3 not for profit organization.
Proceeds from the store directly support Home of the Sparrow's transitional housing programs and services for homeless women and children in Northern Illinois. Our other five Sparrow's Nest Stores are located in Algonquin, Cary, McHenry, Palatine, and Woodstock. Our Sparrow's Nest Stores are always looking for new volunteers to help with sorting, organizing and pricing donations, displaying merchandise, sales assistance, and customer service. Home of the Sparrow currently operates a Transitional Shelter in McHenry, a Transitional Apartment Program, 19 Affordable Housing Units, a Rapid Re-housing Program, and an Outreach and Prevention Program.

At our Sparrow's Nest Stores, we gratefully accept donations of gently used or new items, including clothing, shoes, furniture, jewelry, small appliances, books, and household items. For your convenience, we offer free Furniture Donation Pick-Up, which can be arranged by calling our Furniture Donations Office at 815-271-5444 ext.41.
