November Presenter:
When Caregiving Comes to Work: The Hidden Business Impact of an Aging Workforce—and What Employers Need to Know
Katie Monahan Brooks
Senior Living & Resource Advisor
Oasis Senior Advisors Chicago North
This is not a senior living presentation or a 30-minute commercial for Oasis. The premise is much more relatable:
Its 2:17 on a Tuesday afternoon. Youre at work. Your phone rings. Mom is in the hospital. Shes going to be okay but she cant safely go home. The hospital wants a discharge plan.
Now what?
From there, I walk through what happens when a completely normal family suddenly finds themselves navigating healthcare, home care, senior living, finances, Medicare, legal documents, family dynamics, and a system they know absolutely nothing about.
I also make it personal. I share my own familys experience with my grandmother, Rita, whose dementia journey went from Grandma is fine to a behavioral crisis, inpatient psych, guardianship, a cross-country move, and ultimately memory care. Even working in this industry doesnt make your own family immune to being completely unprepared.
Free to attend, purchase your lunch from set menu $15-20.
Hope to see all there!
